Tomorrow I’ll go into the hospital. They wil call me today with the details. I’ll spend the day prepping for the hospital stay. Still need to get some stuff from the Hospital Preparation Plan.
Send Your Love to Doc Day
Doc Searls, the co writer of the Cluetrain Manifesto and VRM initiator, who I invited here for Mobile Monday and got to know very well is in the Hospital with pancreatitis and more.
Doc is a great guy, and as @Gapingvoid puts it “@dsearls is to the internet what Copernicus was to astronomy”. He inspired me during his visit. And was nice enough to write about my new journey too. Send your love to him in his blog comments. I know it helps.
Packing Day
As for the packing. Yesterday I got a 500GB harddrive so I can bring all my media. Why choose in this age of cheap and abundant digital media? My music collection is 380GB, als i still have lots of documentaries and movies lying around in my computer. To top it all off I am also downloading the last two seasons of 24, all of the seasons of house and the two seasons Dexter. Better to bring to much then to little.
I still haven’t confirmed internet access at the bed. I will do that today. A friend just told me that he has helped a friend of his with access at the bed including a wifi router. I might need that. Or a HSDPA dongle connection. We’ll see. I do know that a speedy recovery will be helped by giving me access.
Yesterday my mood wasn’t too good. Now I am better. Key is I like to know what is going to happen. The suprise two weeks ago was enough for me. Today when the nurse calls for the details I’ll ask to come by. The OLVG is near by. I’d like to see where I’ll be staying, how the treatment works and when I’m there I know I’ll have lots of other questions. Maybe even meet some one who is undergoing treatment. When you get an hotel room you can always check it out before hand too. Why not at the hospital
UPDATE: the nurse called me and invited me to come to the Oncology ward for an intro at 1. Cool. And she sounded nice.

Ik citeer Bert & Ernie maar even: maak er wat van (2x)!
Hoi Maarten,
It looks like if you have many things to do during your stay in the hospital. That sounds good, because it means you expect to be in such a good condition that you feel like working/surfing/tweeting.
I hope the chemo will not be too bad. Keep smiling, that gives the best healing energy!
Maarten,
best of luck mate.
Lode
Good luck!!! (and did the nurse look as nice as she sounded…)
C
Maarten,
Attitude is everything! You’ve taken control and you have the power. Your curiosity about the process is a very good thing.
We send our love to you and Lori.
