So Theo is a Mediastinal Germ Cell Tumor. Read all about it here. I am very happy knowing what is going on in my body. The diagnosis is not 100% sure, but almost. Monday they will confirm. Key is that my tumor is very treatable. YES! Thats is good news.
It was also the first time they literally said I had cancer. Weird.
Next stop is chemo treatment. Each treatment is 3 weeks of which 6 days I will be in the hospital because my immune system will weak. It is at the OLVG, which is around the corner. They have internet connection at the beds. I will under go 3 to 4 treatments. By then Theo should have gone. Only to be sure about at that point of course. I’ll be out of the running for 3 to 4 months ( until ± september?). The treatment will start next Thursday the 19th or Friday the 20th.
The chemo treatment is called BEP. Read about it here and here (look for “bleomycin, etoposide and platinum”). It will be very heavy, including loss of hair and being nauseous and stuff. Good thing I don’t have hair issues.
Monday they will do and abdominal scan to rule out any wierd stuff in there. And the pathologist will be 100% sure about his diagnosis of Mediastinal Germ Cell Tumor (a form of Seminoma). At around 3 I will get a call with the finals results and treatment plan details.
