Last week was a revelation. On Monday I came home from work at 12.00 and there was NO ONE home! (sorry Freddy, not to discount your lovely cattliness, but I mean, no humanspresent). It was strange, being in the house without Maarten because he has been a consistent presence at home since that fateful day June 4th. Except for the days he was in the hospital, he has barely gone out on his own.
Monday morning he had a meeting. Then Monday evening he had a presentation. Wow! It took a few days for him to physically recover and has been fighting off a cold all week, but…WOW! It almost feels (dare I say it!) Normal!
Friday was another big day. Maarten had his CT scan, of which we will hear the results on Friday September 19th. Then we went and had the pleasure of picking up Pebbels, our new Kitten. She’s Adorable and is as taken with us as we are taken with her. She needs a bit more time to adjust to Freddy and he is very curious about her. But right now they are in the ‘Polite Ignorance’ phase. It’s very entertaining.
Every day she gets more comfortable and more curious (=Trouble). Anyone lacking inspiration and creativity in their life just needs to get a new kitten or puppy.. Their sense of wonder and curiosity is so much fun to watch! And she has given us something positive to focus on. There has been a lot of joy and laughter in our house this weekend. Not to forget Fred (or Fatty katty, as I lovingly refer to him). He has been a steady comfort to Maarten while lying on the couch in his weakened state, lying there with him and just being his lovely fur ball self; equal parts crazy and loving. Funny how two cat-allergic people can live with two cats!
Next up: Next steps and test results Friday!

We loved seeing Pebbels, she is so adorable. We’ll keep our fingers crossed for good news next friday. And Lori….. enjoy your alone time with your kittens.

Yay! Glad to hear that Maarten is feeling so much stronger now! And nothing to add some craziness to one’s life/household than adding a new pet — have fun!

Love seeing the pics of the new baby in the house! We’ll be awaiting test results along with you and keeping positive thoughts all the while.
Sorry I missed your call last Sunday. Mom said you had a good chat. The France trip sounds like the perfect recouperative spot. I showed her the pictures of Pebbles. We both agree she is the cutest thing on four paws. I hope she is getting used to her new big brother. It will be fun to hear about their anticts. Glad to hear that Lens was up and about doing some business last week.
Love,
Julia and Grandma
fingers and toes crossed that everything comes back they way we hope. I expect both of you in top form for whenever my next trip is to A’dam – pre-recuperate now!
I suggest a good listen to earth wind and fire “september” its the theme song for the good things STARTINg this month!

Hi Dears,
Yeah, what would one do without those little, furry, opportunistic, solo-going, “innocent”, scratchy, noisy, wild, mad, self centred, bitey, hungry, demanding, slave-drivers pussycats, really…we must be mad!
Fingers crossed for tomorrow, enjoy the sun,
hugs
Marta
When I had my, lets call it, ‘nervous breakdown’ last year and I couldn’t do anything anymore (had to quit my study etc.) me and @mieltje bought Benthe when she was 10 weeks old (our dog). I had two cats (Sterre & Koika) who helped me through rough times, but they didn’t help me to go outside. A dog would and it helped me a lot! To take care of her, to teach her stuff, to have someone who needed me, and to go outside my house again. I’m really glad we made that decision, ’cause it was very good for me. And still is. I’m still at home and my pets bring me peace, especially when ‘alles is stom’
Good luck with this treasure!
(sorry, my english isn’t that good
