Wednesday morning at ten I am expected at the hospital for check in. Before that I will go to the notary to sign the last official papers for SPRXmobile. The new company I have started with three amazing people: Yuri van Geest, Claire Boonstra & Raimo van der Klein.
They will be making mobile magic without me in the beginning. I am sure they will do a great job and will be ready when I hop on board the SPRXtrain in September.
Visiting
As for visiting. I haven’t had time to come up with a detailed plan or process to help you figure out when to come. I did have time, however, to come up with four guidelines to keep in mind:
- Check the online schedule, add your name on the time slot you want with the word ‘request’
- Check via email with Lori if it is ok: lori at lens-fitzgerald dot com. She will get back to you and delete the word ‘request’
- Flowers or plants are not allowed on the ward. If you want to bring something, bring your favorite party drink. We’ll share it when this is over.
- I am at C6 at the OLVG.
Not everybody will be able to come when they want. I will be in the hospital till Monday. Most of the time I won’t be fit. Also after the hospital stay I will still like visitors so don’t worry if you can’t come right away. How it will all work and go I don’t really know yet. Please keep an eye on this blog so you are updated.
Text messages, tweets, emails and comments on the blog are always appreciated. Even the NRC blog writes about me, it helps!
Treatment plan
Here is a good and detailed document for you to read so you know how the treatment works (in dutch) and what side effects there will be. Then you will be informed and up to date. Don’t hesitate to ask questions.

wow, bijzonder!

As Cooper would say, “don’t be scared.” Your blog is awesome…we’re all right with you at your side. Do you want me to send a photo of Wanda to go next to the one of

My thoughts are with you both. It feels a trite phrase to write down, but it is genuine and absolutely heartfelt mate!
Wendy and I wish you the best. We know you and Lori can lick this! Stick in there and we’ll expect you cycling by our place in no time!
Many long-distance hugs and thoughts to you and Lori as this gets underway. I hope Theo is all talk and bluster and is packing his bags to disappear as I write this.

Lens,
seriously, if you were disappointed that we weren’t keeping in touch, you could have found a easier way to encourage us to write. I find that your misfortune is an acceptable reason to begin the quest for the most ridiculous hat for you to wear once the balding begins. I think perhaps you will need to create a small subsection of this blog that is the hat du jour section.
I hope you know that I am wishing you the best and share the sentiments of all of the other nice messages above.
I will however point and laugh a bit that you have testicle cancer in your chest. It is very ballsy of you to be so cutting edge!!
Keep your spirits up and find strength in laughing at some of the things that come your way! I’ll keep reading and sending inappropriate remarks as I can for your amusement!
Ellen
Love Ellen S in dc’s comment. A Hat section is perfect; I’m on the search for one as we speak:) Keep listening to your tunes and “this too shall pass”. (couldn’t resist)
Love you,
Mary & Steve
Lens,
Mom and I are sending good thoughts and prayers your way as you begin the healing process. I am thinking of the drops of chemo like a refreshing dew or healing rain.
Congrats on signing the docs for your new venture! Very exciting.
Love,
Julia and Gramdma
See…I knew Mom would comment like that!
